Trip overview

Lakuri Bhanjyang is a serene village on the south-eastern borders of Kathmandu Valley. This destination provides a perfect 160-degree view of the Kathmandu Valley and some mountains at a distance. It is a newly recognized trail and is less crowded. However, you will find groups of people picnicking there.

Initially, you will drive to Lamatar through Gwarko, which should take about an hour. From Lamatar, you can hike uphill either through a motor road or a steep foothill trail. Both of these paths will merge into one after walking up for a while. Lakuri Bhanjyang is about 13 kilometers away from Gwarko, and thus you will be walking for about 3 hours from Lamatar. From the viewpoint, you will get to see the three cities of Kathmandu valley, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur, along with with some of the peaks of the Langtang and Gaurishankar range.

The return journey can be managed as per your preference. You can either walk downhill through the same route or take the second route towards Bhaktapur and descend to Suryabinayak via Pilotbaba Ashram. You may end your trip as you explore the city of Bhaktapur. On the other hand, if you return the same way back, we can arrange a visit for you to Godavari Botanical Garden if time permits.

Lakuri Bhanjyang is a sweet escape from the busy capital with an opportunity to explore engaging and exciting countryside lifestyle. Besides, the Lakuri Bhanjyang hike makes it possible to explore all three cities of Kathmandu Valley. You could extend another one day to your hike. Begin exploring Bhaktapur and hike up to Lakuri through Dadhikot. Spend the night at Lakuri Bhanjyang and enjoy the sunset view and the majestic sunrise next morning. Finally, you can hike down to the Godavari.

It is an easy hike that can be done by everyone, and it can be done at any time of the year. During monsoon, the path becomes messy as the roads are seasonal and become muddy with the rainfall. However, the scenic view you get from the top compensates it all.
