Introduction
Mount Everest and its legacies have awed thousands across the world, and many try their best to conquer them. The Everest Base Camp Trek is a trip that explores the grand trails in the shadows of Mount Everest. Thus, there are plenty of beautiful sceneries of the Himalayas and diverse mountain landscape. Similarly, the EBC with Kalapatthar Trek stretches along the Sagarmatha National Park and its natural riches. Moreover, the Sherpa culture and traditions are also some other highlights on the trek.

Overview of the EBC with Kalapatthar Trek
Firstly, the EBC with Kalapatthar Trek begins from Kathmandu with a scenic flight to Lukla. From here, the trek starts as you hug the trails beside the Dudh Koshi River. You will head to Phakding on the first day and continue north from here. The trail takes you inside the Sagarmatha National Park and settles at Namche. After spending a day to acclimatize, you trek to Tengboche in the company of Mt. Ama Dablam (6856m). Here, you can also visit the Tengboche Monastery before heading to Dingboche. Crossing Thukla, you ascend across steep terrain and trek to Lobuche.

Further, the trails continue along the Khumbu Glacier and head to Gorakshep. You will trek across the dry and moderately ascending path to reach the Everest Base Camp. The base camp offers beautiful scenery of the Khumbu Glacier, Icefall, and mountains like Nuptse (7861m) and PumoRi (7165m). Then, you hike to the Kalapatthar viewpoint to relish the vista of mountains like Mt. Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8516m), and Cho Oyu (8201m). The trek begins as you leave the embrace of the Himalayas and slowly descend along the same trail. Trekking past Pheriche and Namche Bazaar, you head back to Lukla and fly back to Kathmandu. Since the weather in the high Himalayas is unpredictable, the flight can be delayed or postponed. So, it is necessary to keep a couple of reserve days. Also, in case of such conditions, the trekkers will have to bear the cost of accommodation and food.

Itinerary

Our staff will heartily welcome you to the land of the Himalayas at Tribhuvan International
Airport, Kathmandu, where your flight will land. After brief introductions, you head to your
designated hotel and refresh. At dinner, you meet our staff again and then discuss the details of the trip.

After an early breakfast, you head to the domestic airport and board the first flight to Lukla. In route, you get to enjoy breath-taking sceneries of hill landscape and mountains like Langtang, Manaslu, Ama Dablam, and even Everest. At Lukla, you meet the local staff who will guide you throughout your time in the Khumbu region. Then, you prepare for the trek and hit the trail that goes uphill along a rhododendron forest. After a couple of hours, you arrive at Phakding for overnight stay.

After breakfast, you walk along the pine forest and then arrive at the banks of the Dudh Koshi River. From there, you trek along the banks of the river and arrive at Monjo, where you need to show permits to enter Sagarmatha National Park. Then, you continue to walk and cross the river via suspension bridges. Then, you climb the final steep trail and arrive at Namche Bazaar for overnight stay. Namche Bazaar is the most significant settlement area in the Khumbu region.

You need to acclimatize because you’ll be going to elevations of more than 4,000 meters. After breakfast, you hike up to the Sherpa Culture Museum and explore the place. Next, you head to the nearby Khumjung village to explore the ancient town. You can also visit the Khumjung Monastery, where you can see the preserved skull of a yeti (Abominable Snowman).

The trail today is relatively more relaxed than other parts of the trek. You commence the trek after breakfast and enjoy the first sights of mountains like Nuptse, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. After a short series of ups and downs, you arrive at Tengboche. After refreshing, you can head to explore the ancient Tengboche Monastery. Overnight stay at the teahouse.

After breakfast, you start the trek with beautiful views of Everest, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, and the neighboring mountains. Making your way through the forest filled with rhododendron, conifer, and pine, you arrive at the banks of Imja Khola. From here, you head to the Pangboche monastery, and if you want, you can do a quick tour of the place. Then, you ascend to Dingboche for an overnight stay.

Today is Acclimatization day in Dingboche for relaxing your body and head up to higher elevations for adjust with high altitude.

After breakfast, you head to a ridge and continue through pasturelands for yaks. Then, you cross a wooden bridge and steeply ascend to the moraines of Khumbu Glaciers. There you get to see beautiful stone piles dedicated to mountaineers who lost their lives. The views of the mountains get spectacular from here. You get to see Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Pumori closer than in the previous days. Enjoying the view, you arrive at Lobuche for overnight stay.

Today, you wake up at dawn and prepare to ascend to Everest Basecamp. After breakfast, you head to Gorakshep and rest for a while. From there, you head to the basecamp. The trail gets strenuous as it is filled with snow and moraines. After a couple of hours, you are rewarded with majestic views of mountains like Nuptse and Lhotse. After enjoying the sights, you head back to Gorakshep for an overnight stay.

Today, you wake up before dawn and hike up to Kalapathar to see the sunrise over the
mountains. After 2-3 hours of hike, you arrive at the vantage viewpoint and get to see breath-taking panoramas of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and other neighbouring peaks. After soaking in the view, you head back to Gorakshep, have breakfast, and descend towards Pheriche for overnight stay.

Today, you trek through a series of ascends and descends. The trek continues after breakfast, and you walk through rhododendron forests. Then, you cross the Dudh Koshi River and enter a dense forest. From there, you reach Sansa while enjoying the views of Ama Dablam. The forested area continues till you reach Namche Bazaar for overnight stay.

Today is the last day you trek in the Khumbu region. After a hearty breakfast, you hit the rocky trail that opens up to the banks of the Dudh Koshi River. Following the river, you pass by several monasteries and villages. You cross the river many times before arriving at Lukla for overnight stay. You refresh and join our local staff for a farewell dinner.

Today is the last day in the Khumbu region, so enjoy the views as much as you can. After an early breakfast, you board the plane heading back to Kathmandu. The flight can be delayed or canceled due to adverse weather conditions like high wind and poor visibility. In such circumstances, you will have to bear your accommodation and food costs yourself. If everything goes well, enjoy the flight as you see panoramic views of the mountains one last time. Then, you drive back to the hotel to refresh and join our staff for a farewell dinner.

The last of the trip has finally come. Make sure you haven’t lost any of your personal
belongings. Our staff will definitely drop you off at the airport on time as per your schedule. Thank you for making beautiful memories with us, and we hope to see you again!

Useful Info

Flights can be delayed or canceled due to bad weather, Flight delays often happen if there is bad weather and poor visibility or high winds. Therefore, we highly recommend 2/3 days extra than itinerary. Helicopter flights from Kathmandu to Lukla can be an option for travelers who want to reach the starting point of the trek to Mount Everest quickly, or for those who are unable to take a scheduled flight due to weather or other reasons. The cost of a helicopter flight can vary depending on the operator and the season, but it can range from $250 to $300 or more per person as a rough estimate. It is important to note that helicopter flights are subject to availability and may not always be an option Porters can only carry 20kg. So please pack lightly, better have bag pack /duffle bag that is easy for porters to carry. Airlines have a weight limit of 15kg per person. Any excess can be paid at the airline counter at the airport. Note that this is only possible if the flight is not overweight already. Drones are not permitted unless you have a special permit remember your travel insurance

    Hot showers and electricity are generally available at the teahouses and lodges along the Everest Base Camp trek, but the availability and quality of these amenities can vary depending on the location and the individual establishment.
