Itinerary
The GHZ's staff at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu will give you a warm welcome upon arrival, and you will then head to your hotel to rest and refresh. Later on, you will meet with the staff again over dinner to discuss the details of your trip.
After the dinner meeting, the staff will help you prepare for the trek by providing information on the necessary gear and equipment, as well as tips on how to acclimatize to the altitude. They may also help you plan your route and give you an overview of the sights you will see along the way. Additionally, you may have the opportunity for some sightseeing in Kathmandu or other nearby areas before starting your trek.
The trek to Phakding from Lukla typically begins with a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, a small airport located in the mountains. The flight offers stunning views of the Himalayas and can be an exciting start to the trek. Once you have arrived at Lukla airport, you will start your trek to Phakding. The trail takes you through traditional Sherpa villages and lush forests, with the Dudh Kosi River flowing alongside you. The trek to Phakding is relatively easy and is a good way to acclimatize to the altitude. The altitude gain is about 876m and it's around 2-3 hours of walk. The highlight of the Everest Base Camp Trek is the early morning climb to Kala Patthar. After waking up early, we start the ascent to reach the viewpoint of Kala Patthar, which stands at an altitude of 5,545 meters (18,192 feet) and offers unparalleled views of Mount Everest, Ama Dablam, and many other peaks. We spend some time admiring the views, taking photographs, and then return to Gorakshep for a hearty breakfast. After breakfast, we begin our descent to Lobuche. The trail is a combination of flat and uphill sections, we then reach Zhongli. The trek is challenging but the views and experience make it worth it.
After breakfast at the guesthouse, we begin our trek to cross the challenging Cho La Pass. The pass stands at an altitude of 5420 meters (17,782 ft) and is a steep and difficult ascent on a rocky ridge. The trail includes crossing a small glacial stream and climbing up the pass for a few hours. At the top of the pass, we are rewarded with breathtaking views of Ama Dablam, Kantaiega, Thamserku, Taboche, Cholatse, Baruntse, and Numbur. The trail from Cho La Pass to Thangna is a rocky one, which is adventurous and enjoyable but can be challenging.
Our trekking starts after breakfast at the lodge. We begin the day by crossing the Ngozumpa Glacier, also known as the Gokyo Glacier. The walk to Gokyo Lake is a relatively short one, taking around 3-4 hours from Thangnak, but it can be challenging as it involves crossing the glacier. Upon reaching Gokyo Lake, we can see the Gokyo village located by the third lake and the Cho-Oyu mountain. The views from above the lake are breathtaking, with panoramic views of Cho Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Lhotse, Makalu, chocolate, and Tawache. Gokyo is a popular Himalayan resort that is less crowded, and it offers comfortable lodges, excellent food, and stunning views. We have enough time to explore the Gokyo Valley today.
After breakfast, we set out to explore the picturesque Gokyo Lake, which is known to be the highest freshwater lake in the world. We will have the opportunity to view the Ngozumpa Glacier from here. If desired, we can also hike to Gokyo Ri to witness the incredible panoramic views of the mountains. The summit of Gokyo Ri offers breathtaking views of Mount Everest, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and many other peaks. After enjoying the views, we continue our trek to Dolle.
In the morning, we enjoy breakfast and begin our descent to Namche Bazaar.descends to Photse Tenga (3650m) passing through rhododendron forests. The path then immediately ascends steeply to Mongla Danda (4000m) before gently descending to Kyanjoma (3500m). From Kyanjome, we rejoin the previous route back to Namche Bazaar.
After having breakfast, we begin our descent to Lukla. We take in the last views of Mount Everest and anticipate seeing it again. We cross six suspension bridges and pass through various Sherpa villages before arriving in Lukla. After crossing the highest bridge, we hike for an additional 3 hours to Phakding and stop for lunch. We reach Lukla after about 2.5 hours of walking from Phakding. It's time to celebrate the last night of our trekking in Lukla.
After breakfast, we walk to the Tenzing-Hillary airport and take a flight back to Kathmandu in the morning, relishing the picturesque views during the flight. We'll have a celebratory dinner in Kathmandu in the evening and the rest of the day is yours to spend as you wish. We will stay overnight in a hotel in Kathmandu.
Today is your final day in Nepal! Start the day with a delicious breakfast, and make the most of your time by doing some last-minute shopping in Kathmandu. We will ensure that you arrive at Kathmandu International Airport with ample time before your flight home. We will bid you farewell and say our goodbyes, with the hope that you will return with fond memories and beautiful photos to share with your loved ones.

Useful Info
Flights can be delayed or canceled due to bad weather, Flight delays often happen if there is bad weather and poor visibility or high winds. Therefore, we highly recommend 2/3 days extra than itinerary. Helicopter flights from Kathmandu to Lukla can be an option for travelers who want to reach the starting point of the trek to Mount Everest quickly, or for those who are unable to take a scheduled flight due to weather or other reasons. The cost of a helicopter flight can vary depending on the operator and the season, but it can range from $250 to $300 or more per person as a rough estimate. It is important to note that helicopter flights are subject to availability and may not always be an option Porters can only carry 20kg. So please pack lightly, better have bag pack /duffle bag that is easy for porters to carry. Airlines have a weight limit of 15kg per person. Any excess can be paid at the airline counter at the airport. Note that this is only possible if the flight is not overweight already. Drones are not permitted unless you have a special permit remember your travel insurance
