Trip overview
Annapurna region is one of the most popular trekking regions of Nepal. Along with the scenic views of Annapurna massif, there are a variety of trekking routes that have their unique charm. Among shorter treks, Ghorepani and Dhampus treks are some of the popular options. An alternative to the ever-popular and more crowded Ghorepani Trek, the Khopra Danda or the Khopra Ridge trek takes you to the heights of the Annapurna region. This newly opened route is most suitable for families, especially with children because of their well-made paths, which are easy to walk on. Throughout the trek, you get to enjoy the tranquility of the Annapurna region along with the welcoming local cultures.
The scenic beauty of the snowcapped mountain, pasturelands, terraced fields, and the ethnic culture of the villages will mesmerize you. Along the route of Ghorepani, Chistibang, and Khopra Danda,you’ll pass through dense forests full of oaks, pines, bamboos, and rhododendrons. You’ll also get to view some of the famous peaks of the region- Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Annapurna I, Annapurna South, and Machhapuchhre. Just north of Poon Hill, Khopra Danda will give you a breathtaking view of the sunset and the sunrise.
The route to Khayer Lake at 4,500 m is a recent discovery in the region and sits between the Annapurna Base Camp and the Jomsom trekking trail. A visit to this sacred lake on the foothills of the region will be a great experience with your family and friends. Ending the trip at Tatopani with a dip in the natural hot water baths will make you more refreshed.

Itinerary
The first day of the trip starts with your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu. You will meet our representatives who are waiting to welcome you warmly. Then, you head to the hotel after brief introductions. You refresh and rest before heading to join our representatives again for welcome dinner. You can discuss the details of the trip over dinner.
On the second day, you head to Pokhara, the city of lakes. You can either choose to drive or fly there. If you opt to drive, you need to board the bus before 7 a.m.and drive along the Prithivi highway. You get to see amazing views of the Trishuli River and the hill landscape. The drive is 6-7 hours long. If you choose to fly, the flight will be about 25 minutes, and you get to see amazing aerial views of the mountains and Pokhara Valley.
After an early breakfast, you head to Nayapul via a private vehicle. En route, you get to see Mt. Machhapuchhre. After a scenic 2hr drive, you arrive at Nayapul and start to prepare for the trek. The trail goes through rustic villages, and you arrive at Birethanti, where you need to show your permits. From Birethanti, the trail gently ascends, and then you reach Tikhedhunga for overnight stay.
You have a Gurung style breakfast and hit the trail. The route ascends to various settlement areas and then reaches Ulleri, which is inhabited by both Magars and Gurungs. From here, the view of the Annapurna range is breathtaking. As you continue to walk through the rhododendron forest, you arrive at Ghorepani for overnight stay.
The trail goes through rhododendron forests today. The trek resumes after breakfast, and you slowly ascend to settlement areas. En route, you get to see splendid views of the Annapurna range and Dhaulagiri range. After crossing the forest, you reach Tadapani. From there, you head towards Baili Kharka and finally arrive at Chistibang for overnight stay.
The trail today is a bit narrower in comparison to previous trails. The trek continues through rhododendron forests, and you get to see beautiful views of the mountains. Once you reach Khopra Danda, you set up camps for overnight stay. Then, you can head to explore the surrounding areas.
Today, you head to explore the magnificent Khayer Lake. The lake is situated near Khopra Danda. You can pack lunch and have it around the lake. The lake is breathtaking, and the views of the Annapurna range and the neighboring mountains are splendid. Return to Khopra Danda before nightfall.
Today is the most extended trek of the entire trip. After a relaxing time at Khopra Danda, you descend to Tatopani. En route, you reach Sikha village where you see beautiful terraced farmlands. If you have some time in hand, you can do a quick tour of the village. The trail continues through rhododendron forests, and finally, you arrive at Tatopani, which is famous for its natural hot springs.
Today is your final day in the Annapurna region, so try to enjoy the views as much as possible. After a hearty breakfast, you board the vehicle heading to Pokhara. Once you reach the hotel, you can choose to relax or do a quick tour of the significant places of Pokhara.
After an exciting trek, it’s time to head back to Kathmandu. You can opt to drive or fly back. Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, you head to the hotel and refresh.Later, you join our representatives for a farewell dinner. If you have time before dinner, you can head out to buy souvenirs around the Thamel area.
Today is the final day of the trip. As per your scheduled flight, our representatives will drop you off at the airport. Please make sure you have all your belongings with you. Thank you for choosing to travel with us and have a safe flight!

However, you can also trek during the winter months (December to February), but the temperatures are much colder, and there is a higher chance of snow.

The trek involves a few steep ascents and descents, but the pace is slow and steady, allowing you to acclimatize to the altitude.
