Every foreigner must have a visa with an exception for Indians. In the case of Chinese nationals, official passport holders of the People’s Republic of China do not require a visa to visit and stay in Nepal for up to one month. Foreigners can issue their visa from the Nepal Embassy or Diplomatic Mission in their own country.
Another way of getting the visa is after landing at Tribhuvan International Airport. After you arrive at the airport, you need to fill in an arrival card and proceed to a booth of computers to start your visa application. You will have three visa options with their costs: US$25 for 15 days, US$40 for 30 days, and US$100 for 90 days.
If you are entering Nepal by road, you can get the visa after arriving at the road border crossings in any of these places: Mahendranagar, Dhangadi, Nepalgunj, Sunauli,Birgunj, Rasuwagadhi or Kakarbhitta.
Keep in mind that your passport has three to six months of remaining validity. Make sure to carry passport-sized photos in hand. Children under the age of 10 years are free from visa charges. Also, if you’re entering the country only once in a calendar year, you will not be charged.
